Menlu Sugiono dan Menlu India Sepakat Perkuat Kerja Sama Pangan
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Menteri Luar Negeri RI Sugiono telah melakukan pertemuan bilateral dengan Menteri Luar Negeri India S. Jaishankar, di sela-sela Konferensi Tingkat Tinggi BRICS Plus di Kazan, Rusia (23/10). Pertemuan membahas berbagai kerja sama bilateral, regional dan global.
Tahun ini bertepatan dengan 75 tahun hubungan diplomatiknya Indonesia dan India. Menlu Sugiono menyampaikan kembali komitmen Indonesia untuk memperkuat Kemitraan Strategis Komprehensif RI - India, dan mendorong kolaborasi Indonesia – India di berbagai forum multilateral.
Selanjutnya, Menlu Sugiono menyampaikan bahwa India merupakan mitra penting bagi ketahanan pangan Indonesia.
Terkait hal ini, Menlu RI menyambut baik keputusan India yang telah mencabut larangan ekspor beras putih non-basmati. Keputusan ini telah membuka peluang peningkatan perdagangan bilateral untuk komoditas beras yang akan mendukung ketahanan pangan Indonesia.
Selain isu pangan, kedua Menlu juga bertukar pandangan dan menjajaki berbagai kerja sama bilateral termasuk program makan siang bergizi, perumahan, farmasi, industri kreatif, pertahanan dan pendidikan.
Dalam kesempatan ini, Menlu RI mengundang Menlu India untuk menghadiri pertemuan Joint Commission Meeting Indonesia-India yang ke-8 yang akan diselenggarakan di Jakarta.
Sejumlah prioritas kerja sama yang akan dibahas dalam pertemuan tersebut antara lain di sektor ekonomi, industri pertahanan, pendidikan, serta penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D).
