BRIN Tekankan Kembali Protokol Kesehatan untuk Cegah Cacar Monyet

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN) menegaskan pentingnya kembali menerapkan protokol kesehatan untuk mencegah penularan cacar monyet atau Monkey Pox (Mpox).
Langkah pencegahan yang direkomendasikan meliputi pemberian vaksin, penggunaan pelindung pribadi, dan menghindari kontak langsung dengan hewan yang terinfeksi atau lingkungan yang terkontaminasi.
Kepala Pusat Riset Kedokteran Preklinis dan Klinis BRIN, Harimat Hendrawan, menjelaskan bahwa protokol kesehatan harus kembali ditegakkan untuk mencegah penularan. "Prinsipnya kita harus kembali menegakkan disiplin protokol kesehatan untuk mencegah risiko penularan," ujar Harimat, seperti dikutip dari Antara.
Harimat menambahkan bahwa pengobatan cacar monyet bersifat suportif, dengan fokus pada pengelolaan gejala dan pencegahan infeksi sekunder. Dalam kasus yang parah atau berisiko tinggi, terapi antiviral dapat digunakan.
Selain itu, Harimat mengungkapkan bahwa penilaian risiko di Indonesia belum menemukan adanya kasus cacar monyet pada hewan. Meski demikian, dengan banyaknya masyarakat yang hidup berdampingan dengan hewan peliharaan, potensi penularan balik atau spill back perlu diwaspadai.
Menteri Kesehatan, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, menyatakan pemerintah telah mengaktifkan kembali sistem deteksi dini penyakit menular guna merespons kemunculan strain baru cacar monyet, Clade 1B, yang dianggap lebih berbahaya dibandingkan strain sebelumnya, Clade 2B.
