Indonesia Kembangkan Teknologi Nuklir Kerjasama Dengan Rusia

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesia dan Rusia telah lama menjalin kerjasama salah satunya dalam mempelajari teknologi nuklir dan pemanfaatannya dengan mengirim mahasiswa Indonesia ke Rusia. Ini dilakukan untuk tujuan pengembangan teknologi nuklir agar dapat mendukung transisi ke energi bersih.
Kepala Pusat Riset Teknologi Reaktor Nuklir Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN), Topan Setiadipura mengungkapkan bahwa pihaknya berharap bisa bekerja sama untuk mengembangkan reaktor nuklir generasi IV di Indonesia.
"Harapannya BRIN bisa melakukan joint development. Kalau untuk teknologi yang BRIN kembangkan, mitra yang cocok itu Rosatom (Rusia) atau Tiongkok," kata Topan saat forum industri nuklir ATOMEXPO 2024 dikutip dari Antara News, Senin (25/3/2024).
Pada forum yang sama juga hadir Rosatom yang merupakan BUMN nuklir milik Rusia. Rosatom sendiri turut berperan dalam sejarah pengembangan reaktor generasi IV di Indonesia dengan melakukan transfer desain konseptual HTGR pebble bed pada 2015-2016.
Reaktor yang paling sesuai untuk dikembangkan di Indonesia adalah yang berpendingin gas suhu tinggi (HTGR) karena sangat aman, ekonomis, dan minimum limbah. Maka dari itu, Indonesia berencana untuk membangun teknologi HTGR pebble bed berkapasitas 40 MWt yang dinamakan PeLUIt-40.
