Kemendikbudristek: Penutur 11 Bahasa Daerah Indonesia Bagian Timur Punah
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Indonesia memiliki 700 lebih bahasa daerah dan dilaporkan 11 diantaranya alami kepunahan penutur. Hal itu disampaikan oleh Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi (Kemendikbudristek) Republik Indonesia.
"Rata-rata bahasa daerah yang mengalami kepunahan ini terjadi di wilayah bagian timur Indonesia," ucap Hafidz Muksin, Sekretaris Badan Pengembangan dan Pembinaan Bahasa Kemendikbudristek, pada Kamis (7/3/2023) dilansir dari Antara News.
Kepunahan ini disebabkan karena mayoritas penuturnya yaitu generasi tua yang tidak berbicara menggunakan bahasa daerah kepada keturunannya saat ini.
"Situasi di wilayah Timur Indonesia ini, jumlah bahasa daerah banyak, namun penduduknya sedikit, sementara wilayah Barat Indonesia, jumlah bahasa daerahnya sedikit tetapi jumlah penduduknya padat," katanya.
11 bahasa daerah yang mengalami kepunahan tersebut yaitu bahasa Tandia di Papua Barat, bahasa Mawes Papua, bahasa Kajeli atau kayeli Maluku, bahasa Piru Maluku, bahasa Marsela Maluku.
Ditambah dengan bahasa daerah Palumata Maluku, bahasa Ternate Maluku Utara, bahasa Hukumina Maluku, bahasa Hoti Maluku, bahasa Serua Maluku dan bahasa Nila di daerah Maluku.
