SEAToday.com, Beirut - Pasukan Perdamaian PBB di Lebanon (UNIFIL) melaporkan bahwa militer Israel memaksa masuk ke markasnya di Lebanon Selatan pada Minggu (13/10) pagi.

Pasukan UNIFIL menyatakan bahwa sekitar pukul 4.30 pagi, dua tank Israel menghancurkan gerbang utama dan “secara paksa masuk ke dalam pangkalan”. Tank-tank tersebut pergi 45 menit kemudian setelah UNIFIL memprotes melalui mekanisme perantara bahwa kehadiran mereka membahayakan pasukan penjaga perdamaian. 

Kemudian pada pukul 6.40 pagi, UNIFIL melaporkan adanya tembakan dari jarak 100 meter, yang mengeluarkan asap dan melingkupi seluruh pangkalan. Meskipun telah mengenakan masker pelindung, 15 personil akhirnya membutuhkan perawatan karena iritasi dan reaksi pencernaan.

Insiden ini terjadi ketika Perdana Menteri Israel Benjamin Netanyahu meminta misi penjaga perdamaian untuk meninggalkan daerah tersebut. Laporan UNIFIL menegaskan kembali bahwa melanggar dan memasuki wilayah PBB merupakan pelanggaran hukum internasional dan resolusi Dewan Keamanan. Laporan tersebut menuntut Israel untuk menjamin keselamatan dan keamanan personel PBB dan menghormati wilayah PBB.
