Rayakan 45 Tahun Hubungan Diplomatik, Dubes RI Resmikan Padepokan Pencak Silat di 6 Sekolah Kenya

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Duta Besar Republik Indonesia (RI) untuk Kenya Mohamad Hery Saripudin mengatakan, turnamen Pencak Silat Ambassador's Cup 2024 yang diadakan di Woodcreek School, Kiambu County, Kenya diikuti oleh ratusan atlet pelajar Kenya.
Melansir ANTARA, Hery menyampaikan pada keterangan tertulis yang diterima di Jakarta pada Minggu (23/6/2024) jika kegiatan tersebut merupakan bagian dari rangkaian perayaan 45 tahun hubungan diplomatik Indonesia-Kenya.
”Kegiatan ini tidak hanya memupuk pertukaran budaya Indonesia-Kenya, namun juga sebagai jembatan budaya dalam meningkatkan saling pengertian dan relasi orang-ke-orang pada kedua negara”, kata Hery.
Kegiatan tersebut merupakan kolaborasi KBRI Nairobi dengan National Federation of Pencak Silat Kenya (NFPSK) dan perusahaan produksi mie instan Indonesia di Kenya.
Pada kegiatan tersebut, Dubes RI juga meresmikan pembukaan Padepokan Pencak Silat di enam sekolah di Kenya.
Turnamen tersebut diikuti sebanyak 248 peserta dari berbagai sekolah Kenya dan dihadiri oleh sedikitnya 500 orang. Turnamen itu mempertandingkan beberapa kategori, mulai dari anak-anak hingga dewasa, putra, putri, demonstrasi jurus, dan sparring (one-on-one).
Dari rektor Universitas Umma, Kenya, dosen Technical University of Mombasa yang membawa delegasi peserta hingga para kepala sekolah yang siswanya menjadi peserta lomba menghadiri acara tersebut.
Direktur Asia dan Pasifik Kementerian Luar Negeri dan Diaspora Kenya menyambut baik inisiatif pelaksanaan kegiatan itu.
KBRI Nairobi mengatakan, pihaknya memanfaatkan momentum tersebut dengan memberikan dukungan bagi kemajuan pencak silat, baik di Kenya maupun di tiga negara rangkapannya yakni Uganda, Republik Demokratik Kongo, dan Somalia.
Dukungan yang diberikan dalam bentuk pemberian seragam silat, baju pelindung dan properti silat, serta penyelenggaraan turnamen dan berbagai kegiatan lainnya.
