Bayi Orangutan Lahir di Amerika Serikat Melalui Operasi Caesar
SEAToday.com, Tampa-Sabtu (13/4) waktu setempat, seekor bayi orangutan Kalimantan lahir melalui operasi caesars di Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Florida, Amerika Serikat.
Kata petugas taman nasional, bayi orangutan itu lahir dengan berat lebih dari 1,3 kilogram, sementara induknya, Luna, sedang dalam masa pemulihan pascaoperasi dan akan dipertemukan dengan bayinya setelah stabil.
Dalam rilisnya, Busch Gardens menyatakan lahirnya bayi orangutan ini menjadi kabar gembira dalam upaya konservasi orangutan. Bayi orangutan ini belum memiliki nama.
Orangutan hanya dapat ditemukan di pulau Kalimantan dan terdaftar sebagai spesies yang terancam punah oleh International Union for Conservation of Nature. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay adalah bagian dari Species Survival Plan dari Association of Zoos and Aquariums, yang berfokus pada pengelolaan populasi yang terancam punah dan mengedukasi pengunjung mengenai satwa tersebut.
