Dua Pendaki Meninggal Dunia Saat Mendaki Puncak Carstensz di Papua

SEAToday.com, Timika - Kapolres Mimika AKBP Billyandha Hildiario Budiman mengonfirmasi bahwa dua pendaki perempuan asal Jakarta dan Bandung meninggal dunia akibat hipotermia saat mendaki Puncak Carstensz Pyramid, Papua Tengah.
"Kedua pendaki yang meninggal dunia berdasarkan domisili KTP berasal dari Jakarta dan Kota Bandung. Penyebab kematian mereka diduga karena mengalami hipotermia," ujar AKBP Billyandha di Timika, Papua Tengah, Minggu (2/3).
Korban pertama, Elsa Laksono, meninggal dunia saat dalam perjalanan turun dari puncak. Ia diduga mengalami acute mountain sickness (AMS) atau penyakit ketinggian. Jenazahnya telah dievakuasi ke RSUD Mimika pada Minggu pagi sekitar pukul 06.10 hingga 09.26 WIT.
Korban kedua, Lilie Wijayanti Poegiono, juga mengalami AMS dan dinyatakan meninggal dunia pada Sabtu (1/3) sekitar pukul 02.07 WIT saat turun dari puncak. Sebelum dinyatakan meninggal, rekan-rekan pendaki serta pemandu sempat melakukan upaya penyelamatan dan membawanya ke titik Teras Dua. Jenazahnya dijadwalkan akan dievakuasi pada Senin (3/3).
Rencananya, kedua jenazah akan diterbangkan ke Jakarta menggunakan maskapai Lion Air pada Senin (3/3).
