Desak-desakan di Stasiun New Delhi Tewaskan 18 Orang

SEAToday.com, New Delhi - Sedikitnya 18 orang dilaporkan tewas akibat insiden desak-desakan di Stasiun Kereta Api New Delhi, India, pada Sabtu (15/2). Media setempat NDTV mengutip pernyataan pejabat dan petugas medis yang mengonfirmasi jumlah korban jiwa dalam peristiwa tragis tersebut.
"Setidaknya 18 orang meninggal dunia akibat desak-desakan di Stasiun Kereta Api New Delhi pada Sabtu sore," ujar seorang pejabat kepada NDTV.
Selain korban tewas, Kepala Dokter Rumah Sakit LNJP New Delhi menyebutkan bahwa 11 orang lainnya mengalami luka-luka dalam insiden ini.
Perdana Menteri India, Narendra Modi, turut menyampaikan belasungkawa atas kejadian tersebut. "Saya menyampaikan duka cita yang mendalam kepada keluarga korban dan mendoakan kesembuhan bagi mereka yang terluka," tulis Modi melalui platform media sosial X. Ia juga memastikan bahwa pihak berwenang telah dikerahkan untuk membantu para korban dan menangani situasi di lokasi kejadian.
Direktur Dinas Pemadam Kebakaran Delhi, Atul Garg, mengatakan kepada harian The Hindu bahwa penyebab pasti insiden ini masih dalam penyelidikan. Namun, laporan awal menunjukkan bahwa pembatalan dua perjalanan kereta api menuju Prayagraj atau Allahabad, yang mengangkut peziarah untuk ritual Kumbh Mela, memicu kepanikan dan kekacauan di dua peron stasiun.
