SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Women-only carriages will apply during Jabodebek LRT operational hours on weekdays (Monday to Friday, except public holidays) starting December 23, 2024. The implementation of this policy after going through the evaluation stage.

Meanwhile, on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, the train will operate normally without special division. This step was taken to further improve the comfort and safety of female users in using public transportation.

“We understand that the need for comfort and safety for female users is not limited to certain hours. Through our evaluation and the feedback we received from the public, we decided to expand this policy to provide greater benefits,” said Executive Vice President of LRT Jabodebek, Mochamad Purnomosidi.

He continued, “We hope this policy can further increase the trust and comfort of female users in choosing LRT Jabodebek as the main mode of transportation.”

Women-only trains will remain in the rearmost (last) position of each train set operating in all Jabodebek LRT travel relationships. Each station will continue to be equipped with visual signs and periodic announcements to ensure users are aware of the location of this special train.

Station staff will also be on hand to provide information and assistance to passengers as needed. This policy reflects KAI's commitment to continue listening to the needs of the community and providing appropriate solutions.

Although this change was made in a relatively short time since the initial policy was implemented, it shows KAI's seriousness in creating safe, comfortable, and inclusive public transportation services.

“We want to ensure that all female users feel safer and more comfortable while using LRT Jabodebek. We also urge users to maintain order and give seats to priority users as a form of concern for others,” Purnomosidi added.

KAI will continue to monitor the implementation of this policy regularly and open space for the public to provide constructive input. This step is part of KAI's commitment to provide better public transportation services that are responsive to the needs of the community.
