KLHK Umumkan Satu Ekor Badak Jawa Lahir di Taman Nasional Ujung Kulon

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan (KLHK) mengumumkan kelahiran satu ekor Badak Jawa (Rhinoceros sondaicus) yang ditemukan di Taman Nasional Ujung Kulon (TNUK) dari hasil kegiatan tim pemantauan. Anak Badak Jawa tersebut diberi nama IRIS oleh Menteri LHK, Jumat (6/9).

Anak Badak Jawa tersebut diperkirakan berusia tiga sampai lima bulan dengan jenis kelamin betina dan diberi identitas ID.094.2024. IRIS lahir dari induk badak Putri.

Kepala Balai TNUK Ardi Andono, Jumat (13/9) mengatakan, dengan penemuan satu anak Badak Jawa baru pada 2024, “tidak boleh membuat kita terlena karena meskipun Badak Jawa dapat berkembang biak, bukan berarti habitat dan individu Badak Jawa aman dari berbagai gangguan.”
