Pejabat Uni Eropa Desak AS Hentikan Persenjataan Israel
SEAToday.com, Gaza - Kepala Kebijakan Luar Negeri Uni Eropa, Josep Borrell, pada Senin (12/2) mengkritik keras negara pendukung Israel karena mempersenjatai mereka untuk operasi militernya.
Presiden AS Joe Biden Kamis lalu berkomentar bahwa respon militer Israel di Gaza terhadap serangan 7 Okt. telah "berlebihan". Sebagai tanggapan, Borrell menyarankan AS dan negara-negara sekutu lainnya untuk menghentikan pengiriman bantuan militer ke Israel di tengah-tengah meningkatnya jumlah korban jiwa warga Palestina. Borrell mengatakan bahwa sangat kontradiktif bagi para pemimpin negara untuk berulang kali menyatakan bahwa Israel telah membunuh terlalu banyak warga sipil, namun tidak melakukan sesuatu yang konkret untuk mencegah pembunuhan tersebut. Ia mendesak mereka untuk "berhenti berkata dan mulai melakukan sesuatu".
Borell juga mengecam PM Israel Benjamin Netanyahu atas perintahnya untuk "mengevakuasi" satu juta warga Palestina yang berlindung di kota Rafah, Gaza, menjelang operasi militer yang direncanakan.
"Mereka akan mengungsi - ke mana? Ke bulan? Ke mana mereka akan mengevakuasi orang-orang ini?" Borrell bertanya.
