SEAToday.com, Papua - Pemerintah Kabupaten Biak Numfor, Papua bersama Dinas Pariwisata (Dispar) akan mendirikan museum bawah laut yang akan menjadi wisata unggulan daerah tahun 2024.
Kepala Dinas Pariwisata Biak Numfor Onny Dangeubun pada Minggu (7/1) mengungkapkan bahwa pengajuan izin pendirian museum ini telah Kementerian Pendidikan Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi (Kemendikbudristek) serta Kementerian Koordinasi Kemaritiman dan Investasi (Kemenko marves) telah disetujui. Saat ini sedang menunggu surat keputusan penetapan dari Kemendikbudristek.
Ketua Bidang Destinasi Dinas Pariwisata Berto Sroyer menyebutkan bahwa wilayah museum bawah laut ini meliputi Perairan Padaido/Aimando. Museum ini menyimpan sisa peninggalan Perang Dunia II di perairan tersebut seperti torpedo net dan bangkai pesawat.
Berto berharap museum ini dapat menjadi wisata unggulan di Tanah Papua dan meningkatkan kunjungan wisatawan.
