Israel akan Melawan Klaim Genosida Afrika Selatan di Pengadilan

SEAToday.com, Gaza - Israel akan hadir di Mahkamah Internasional (ICJ) di Den Haag untuk melawan Afrika Selatan yang menuntut Israel karena dinilai melakukan genosida terhadap warga Palestina. Kepastian kehadiran tersebut disampaikan juru bicara pemerintah Israel, Selasa (1/2).

"Israel akan hadir di Mahkamah Internasional di Den Haag untuk menepis fitnah yang tidak masuk akal dari Afrika Selatan," kata Juru Bicara Israel Eylon Levy.

Afrika Selatan mengajukan sebuah kasus terhadap Israel pada Jumat lalu, menyebutkan bahwa Israel telah melanggar kewajiban di bawah Konvensi Genosida 1948, atas kematian dan kehancuran yang mereka sebabkan terhadap warga Palestina di Gaza.

Juru bicara Departemen Hubungan dan Kerjasama Internasional Afrika Selatan Clayson Monyela mengatakan bahwa para pengacara negara itu sedang mempersiapkan sidang yang dijadwalkan pada 11 dan 12 Januari.
