Afrika Selatan Ajukan Kasus Genosida Terhadap Israel ke Pengadilan Dunia
SEAToday.com, Gaza - Afrika Selatan mengajukan kasus ke Mahkamah Internasional (ICJ) untuk menuntut Israel yang disebut telah melanggar kewajiban Konvensi Genosida 1948, Jumat (29/12).
Permohonan tersebut menyebut tindakan Israel di Gaza sebagai "tindakan genosida karena bertujuan menghancurkan sebagian besar kelompok bangsa, ras, dan etnis Palestina". Tindakan tersebut termasuk membunuh warga Palestina di Gaza, menyebabkan luka fisik dan mental yang serius, dan menyebabkan kondisi kehidupan yang dinilai dapat menyebabkan kehancuran fisik.
Sebagai anggota PBB, Afrika Selatan dan Israel terikat oleh pengadilan tersebut. Belum ada tanggal yang ditetapkan untuk sidang tersebut. Namun, Kementerian Luar Negeri Israel mengatakan bahwa gugatan tersebut "tidak berdasar”.
