SEAToday.com, Islamabad - Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Afghanistan and Japan strongly condemned Israel's attack on Iran on Saturday, saying it was a violation of international law.

Indonesia expressed condemnation of Israel's attack on Iran, saying that the escalation and expansion of the conflict was a clear violation of international law, pointing out Tel Aviv's clear disregard for it.

“All parties should exercise maximum restraint and refrain from any action that could escalate tensions and create further instability in the region,” said a Foreign Ministry statement in Jakarta.

The Indonesian government emphasized that Israel's illegal occupation of Palestinian territory remains the root cause of the Middle East conflict and that establishing an Independent State of Palestine within the framework of a two-state solution is the only way to bring peace to the region.

Meanwhile, Malaysia's Foreign Ministry said Israel's attack on a country's sovereignty is a clear violation of international law and seriously undermines regional stability.

“Malaysia calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities and an end to the cycle of violence,” the statement read, adding Israel's continued attacks for which it has immunity have severely affected and will continue to affect the future security and stability of the Middle East and bring the region closer to the brink of wider conflict.

India's Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement expressing deep concern over the rising tensions in West Asia and their impact on regional as well as global peace and stability.

“We reiterate our call to all concerned to exercise restraint and return to the path of dialogue and diplomacy. The ongoing hostilities benefit no one, even as innocent hostages and civilians continue to suffer,” the ministry said in a statement.

In addition to the three countries, the Taliban interim government in Kabul, Afghanistan also strongly condemned the Israeli attack, calling it a violation of international law.

Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi in a statement from his ministry said that “Japan is deeply concerned” over the latest exchange of attacks in the Middle East, without directly mentioning Israel, condemning actions that exacerbate regional tensions and calling for maximum restraint from all parties involved.

“Peace and stability in the Middle East region are very important to Japan,” Takeshi said, emphasizing his country's interest in regional stability.

The Japanese foreign minister pledged that his government would continue diplomatic efforts to prevent further deterioration of the situation while prioritizing protection for Japanese citizens overseas.
