President Joko Widodo Opens High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF-MSP) and IAF 2024 in Bali
SEAToday.com, Nusa Dua - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially opened the session of the Joint Leaders' Forum on High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF-MSP) and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) 2024 in Bali, Monday, September 2, 2024.
“Your Excellency, I declare the session of the Joint Leaders' Forum of the High Level of Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum officially opened,” Jokowi said in his remarks at the 2nd HLF-MSP and IAF event in Bali, Monday, as reported by Antara.
Jokowi welcomed and thanked all delegates to the 2nd HLF-MSP and IAF in Bali.
He emphasized that all delegates attending the High-Level Forum on Multi-Stakeholder Partnership and the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum aim to create positive changes in the midst of a world full of challenges, be it challenges related to economic slowdown, unemployment and inflation rates that have not improved as well as continuing political tensions that have caused many casualties and disrupted global supply chains.
However, what is unfortunate, Jokowi said, is that at times like this, international solidarity has declined, the spirit of multilateralism has been sidelined and fragmentation has widened.
“And in the end, developing countries are the most affected. Millions of people in developing countries are the ones who feel the most difficulties,” the President said.
In fact, Jokowi said, there are only six years left to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and only 17 percent of the SDGs targets have been achieved.
“Therefore, we need a new direction and vision. We need a new strategy. We need new tactical steps to realize more equitable and inclusive development for developing countries,” he said at the forum.
