Wisma Atlet Set to Be Repurposed as Civil Servant Housing and Commercial Area
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The government plans to transform the Wisma Atlet in Jakarta into a housing complex for civil servants and a commercial area.
This plan is the result of a meeting between Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, State Secretariat Minister Pratikno, and Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono on Tuesday (8/6).
"The Public Service Agency has assessed that there will be interest from several commercial activities. However, on the other hand, it will also become civil servant housing, as there are many civil servants around Wisma Atlet," said Sri Mulyani.
Sri also opened up the possibility of Wisma Atlet being used for national events with renovations. The government also emphasized that Wisma Atlet will only be rented, not sold.
Currently, the government is waiting for the issuance of a Presidential Instruction as the legal basis for the implementation of this plan.
