SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics Technology has canceled its plan to block the messaging platform Telegram and the social media platform X.
The decision was announced by Director General of Informatics Applications at Communication and Informatics Technology Ministry, Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, on Thursday (6/27). This cancellation comes after the ministry determined that both platforms have demonstrated their commitment to complying with Indonesian regulations.
"X has responded to our request and has taken down the content we flagged. Telegram also responded yesterday and will be improving its Service Level Agreement (SLA)," said Semuel.
Previously, the plan to block Telegram and X emerged in response to concerns regarding the allowance of pornographic content on X and the prevalence of illegal content, including online gambling, on Telegram.
