South Korea Resumes Blasting Loudspeakers at Border in Response to Trash Balloons
SEAToday.com, Seoul-South Korea installed loudspeakers near its border to resume broadcasting propaganda in response to North Korea’s manure balloons, said the presidential office Sunday (6/9).
North Korea had sent South Korea more than 1,000 balloons filled with trash and manure over the last couple of weeks. In retaliation, South Korea will resume its near-border propaganda broadcast for the first time since 2016.
A group of South Korean activists Fighters for a Free North Korea (FFNK) also had sent balloons carrying K-pop and K-dramas on USB sticks along with thousands of leaflets condemning the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, had issued a statement warning the South of a “new response” if they continued the broadcast and failed to stop the balloons. “I sternly warn Seoul to immediately cease its dangerous activities that would further provoke a crisis of confrontation,” she stated.
