SEAToday.com, Washington - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused to directly answer whether he owed an apology to U.S. President Donald Trump. In an interview with Fox News, he firmly stated that he had done nothing wrong.

"I think we should be very open and honest. And I’m not sure that we have done anything bad," Zelenskyy said.

His statement came after a meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy in the Oval Office at the White House on Friday (Feb 28) turned into a heated debate. The meeting, originally intended to discuss a strategic partnership on rare earth materials, ended in tension.

As a result of the debate, Zelenskyy left the White House earlier than scheduled, and the planned joint press conference as well as the signing of the mineral agreement between the two countries were canceled.

During the meeting, Trump questioned Ukraine’s willingness to seek peace with Russia. Zelenskyy emphasized that his country needed security guarantees and rejected a ceasefire without a clear assurance of protection. He also stated that the Ukrainian people could not be forced to change their stance on Russia after suffering greatly from Moscow’s aggression.

Trump, in a post on Truth Social, claimed that Zelenskyy was not ready for peace as long as the U.S. remained involved, as he believed Washington’s involvement gave him a major advantage in negotiations. Trump added that Zelenskyy was welcome to return anytime once he was ready to discuss peace.
