Jakarta Government Prepares 293 Buses for 2025 Free Homecoming Program

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government is set to deploy 293 buses to transport travelers to various cities across six provinces as part of the 2025 Free Mudik (Homecoming) program.
This marks an increase from the previous year, which provided only 259 buses.
“The demand for free homecoming in 2024 was quite high, and many people were left unserved. That’s why we are adding more buses in 2025,” said Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) Head Syafrin Liputo on Monday (2/17).
“This year, 293 buses will be available, serving 20 cities in six provinces,” he added.
The designated cities include Palembang (South Sumatra), Bandar Lampung (Lampung), Kuningan and Tasikmalaya (West Java), along with 10 cities in Central Java, such as Tegal, Pekalongan, and Sragen. The program also covers the Yogyakarta Special Region and five cities in East Java, including Blitar and Malang.
For the return trip, the Jakarta government has arranged 228 buses departing from 20 cities.
Additionally, 10 trucks have been prepared to transport motorcycles. These trucks will serve the most in-demand routes and facilitate the transportation of motorcycles from destination cities back to Jakarta.
“With the availability of truck transportation, we hope that travelers who typically use motorcycles will opt for buses while their bikes are transported separately,” Syafrin explained.
The 2025 Free Homecoming program aims to accommodate 22,400 travelers via buses and transport around 600 motorcycles.
