SEAToday.com, Ankara - A member of Saudi Arabia’s Shura Council has proposed that relocating Israeli citizens to Alaska and Greenland would be a more effective solution for stability in the Middle East.

In an article published in Okaz newspaper on Friday as quoted by Anadolu, Yousef bin Trad Al Saadoun expressed his views in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

Trump has repeatedly suggested this relocation, claiming that the United States would rebuild Gaza and turn it into the "Riviera of the Middle East."

"If Trump truly wants to be a peace hero and bring stability and prosperity to the Middle East, he should relocate his beloved Israelis to Alaska, or even Greenland—of course, after annexing it first," wrote Al Saadoun.

He also stressed the importance of Palestinian unity, warning that "the worst is yet to come."

Previously, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested that Palestinians should establish their state in Saudi Arabia rather than in their homeland.

"Saudis have plenty of land; they can build a Palestinian state there," Netanyahu said on Thursday.

Trump’s proposal to relocate Gaza’s residents has drawn condemnation from Palestinians, Arab countries, and other nations such as Canada, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Al Saadoun rejected Netanyahu’s idea of establishing a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia.

"Zionists and their allies must understand that they will not succeed in pressuring Saudi leaders through media traps or misleading political pressure," he asserted.

He also criticized Trump’s policies, stating that poor decisions are often made by those who "ignore knowledge and experience" and refuse to consult experts.

Al Saadoun accused the U.S. of blindly supporting Israeli policies.

"Official U.S. foreign policy now seeks to legitimize the illegal occupation of sovereign land and carry out ethnic cleansing of its inhabitants," he wrote in the article.

"Both are methods used by Israel and constitute crimes against humanity."

On Sunday, the Saudi government strongly condemned Netanyahu’s statement and reaffirmed the Palestinian people’s right to their homeland.

For context, the Saudi Shura Council serves as an advisory body whose members are appointed by the king. While it does not have legislative authority, it is responsible for drafting economic and social policies as well as legislative proposals in Saudi Arabia.
