SEAToday.com, Semarang - PT KAI is still implementing a diversion for 30 train routes on the Semarang-Surabaya line due to a broken rail track at the crossing between Gubug Station and Karangjati Station in Grobogan Regency, Central Java.

PT KAI Daop 4 Semarang’s Public Relations Manager, Franoto Wibowo, stated that this route diversion will be in effect until February 5, 2025.

"The track normalization is targeted to be completed by February 5," he added.

Franoto explained that the 30 diverted train routes will be redirected through Brumbungan-Gundir-Gambringan or Solo, as well as Yogyakarta-Purwokerto-Cirebon. In addition to the diversion, PT KAI is also still canceling eight train services until the rail track in Grobogan returns to normal.

The train track between Gubug Station and Karangjati Station has been cut off for 12 days due to flooding in the area. Franoto mentioned that repair efforts are ongoing, including the construction of a 5-meter-high embankment on the northern side of the track to anticipate potential future floods.

Furthermore, KAI is also building a temporary bridge on the flooded rail section. The repair and track normalization are expected to be completed by February 5, 2025.

"PT KAI ensures that the smooth operation and safety of the trains remain a top priority," Franoto added.
