Jakarta Listed in Time Out's 50 World's Best Cities in 2025

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Jakarta has been included in Time Out's list of the world's 50 best cities in 2025, ranking 29th and outperforming major cities such as Vienna and Tokyo. Time Out describes Jakarta as an economic center and a stopover before traveling to other cities in Indonesia. The city is said to strike a balance between the traditional and the modern.

Meanwhile, Cape Town, South Africa takes the top spot. The city is considered to have a rich history, beautiful beaches and quality wine. Nearly 97 percent of the city's residents said they were happy living in the city. 

Second place went to Bangkok, Thailand, which is known for its authentic culture and affordable street food.

Time Out surveyed more than 18,500 locals around the world and more than 100 experts on 44 criteria for the best cities, including food, culture, nightlife affordability and happiness, to compile the annual list.
