Government Finalizes Plans for Student Learning Activities During Ramadan 2025

SEAToday.com, Pangkalpinang – The government is set to implement a special learning policy for Ramadan starting next week. The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen), Abdul Mu'ti, emphasized that student activities during the holy month of Ramadan 2025 will not be treated as a holiday but as a unique form of learning.
“We are using the term ‘learning’ rather than ‘holiday’ to describe student activities during the fasting month of Ramadan,” Abdul Mu'ti stated after attending the Senam Anak Indonesia Hebat (Great Indonesian Children Exercise) event with students from Pangkalpinang at the Sahabuddin Sports Center, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, on Sunday (18/1).
Currently, the mechanism for Ramadan learning is awaiting the issuance of a joint circular letter from the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, the Minister of Religious Affairs, and the Minister of Home Affairs.
“The draft of the circular has been finalized and is now awaiting the signatures of the three ministers,” he explained.
Once the circular is signed, the policy will be immediately implemented in all schools across Indonesia. Abdul Mu'ti reiterated that the initiative is not intended as a holiday but as a special learning approach for the Ramadan period.
Kemendikdasmen has also coordinated with four other ministries, including the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK), the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), and the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), to refine the policy.
