McDonald's Malaysia Gugat Kelompok Pro-Palestina Sebesar USD1,3 Juta Atas Seruan Boikot
SEAToday.com, Kuala Lumpur - McDonald's Malaysia menggugat kelompok pro-Palestina, Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) Malaysia sebesar 6 juta ringgit Malaysia atau 20 miliar rupiah atas seruan boikot mereka terhadap perusahaan-perusahaan yang mendukung Israel, Jumat (30/4).
Perusahaan tersebut menyatakan bahwa mereka "tidak mendukung ataupun membenarkan konflik yang sedang terjadi di Timur Tengah". Lebih lanjut, perusahaan tersebut menyatakan bahwa mereka menghormati dan memahami bahwa pemboikotan merupakan keputusan individu, namun harus "berdasarkan fakta dan bukan tuduhan palsu". Perusahaan tersebut menuntut atas dugaan pencemaran nama baik.
BDS Malaysia, bagian dari gerakan BDS global yang diluncurkan oleh warga Palestina, telah menyerukan pemboikotan terhadap beberapa merek Barat yang diduga terlibat dalam kekejaman Israel yang telah menewaskan lebih dari 20.000 warga Palestina. Sebagai tanggapan, kelompok tersebut telah menyangkal tuduhan tersebut.
