11 Climbers Died Due to Mount Marapi Eruption in West Sumatra

SEAToday.com, Padang - Head of the Search and Rescue (SAR) Office in Padang, West Sumatra, Abdul Malik, confirmed on Monday (12/4) that based on the search conducted by the joint team until 7.10 a.m., three people were rescued and 11 climbers were declared dead after the eruption of Mount Marapi on Sunday (12/3).

In addition, Abdul also mentioned that of the 75 people who had been recorded at the post, 49 of them were successfully evacuated safely. Some climbers were taken to hospitals in Bukittinggi and Padang Panjang for treatment, and others have returned home.

Currently, the joint team is still searching for 12 climbers whose whereabouts are still unknown.
