SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Singer Abel Tesfaye, better known as 'The Weeknd', is currently in the spotlight because he has donated 2.5 million US dollars, or equivalent to 38.5 billion rupiah, for the people in Gaza, Palestine. The fund was distributed through the XO Humanitarian Fund and was confirmed by the UN's World Food Program (WFP) on Friday (12/1).

WFP mentioned that the donation is equal to four million emergency meals that will fund the delivery of 820 metric tons (around 1.8 million pounds). The food parcels are estimated to feed more than 173,000 Palestinians for two weeks.

Previously, The Weeknd was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador in October 2021. The 33-year-old has committed to supporting the mission of alleviating global hunger. He also donated $1 per ticket from his "After Hours 'til Dawn" concert.
