The Weeknd Donasikan Rp38,5 Miliar untuk Gaza
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Penyanyi Abel Tesfaye atau lebih dikenal dengan nama 'The Weeknd', saat ini menjadi sorotan karena telah mendonasikan 2,5 juta dolar AS atau setara 38,5 miliar rupiah untuk masyarakat di Gaza, Palestina. Dana tersebut disalurkan melalui XO Humanitarian Fund dan dikonfirmasi oleh World Food Programme (WFP) dari PBB, Jumat (1/12).
WFP menyebutkan, donasi tersebut setara dengan empat juta makanan darurat yang akan mendanai pengiriman 820 metrik ton (sekitar 1,8 juta pon). Paket makanan ini diperkirakan dapat memberi makan lebih dari 173.000 warga Palestina selama dua minggu.
Sebelumnya, The Weeknd diangkat sebagai Goodwill Ambassador sejak Oktober 2021. Pria berusia 33 tahun ini telah berkomitmen untuk mendukung misi pengentasan kelaparan global. Ia juga mendonasikan 1 dolar AS per tiket dari konsernya “After Hours ’til Dawn”.
