Jokowi Minta Menhub Ubah Status VVIP Bandara IKN Jadi Komersial

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Presiden Joko Widodo (Jokowi) memberikan instruksi kepada Menteri Perhubungan (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi untuk mengubah status Very Very Important Person (VVIP) Bandara Nusantara di Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) menjadi komersial.

Jokowi mengatakan bahwa jika diubah menjadi bandara komersial, maka akan lebih bermanfaat untuk masyarakat sekitar, misalnya untuk digunakan sebagai penerbangan haji hingga umrah.

"Supaya lebih bermanfaat. Jangan hanya untuk VVIP, tidak. Lebih bermanfaat bagi yang mau umrah, yang mau haji, yang mau terbang ke dan dari IKN. Saya kira itu lebih bermanfaat," ujar Presiden.

Jokowi mengatakan transformasi itu dilakukan agar fungsi bandara lebih bermanfaat bagi masyarakat umum. Ia menyebut kemungkinan sampai Desember 2024, bandara IKN dapat menampung hingga 200 ribu penumpang.

Sementara, ketika sudah diubah menjadi bandara komersial, kapasitas bisa mencapai hingga 7 juta penumpang per tahun.

Namun, Presiden akan menandatangani peraturan presiden (perpres) terlebih dahulu sebelum pengoperasian Bandara Nusantara untuk komersial.

Jokowi tiba di Bandara IKN, Kalimantan Timur untuk pertama kalinya pada Selasa (24/9) sore. Jokowi dan rombongan terbatas tiba dengan menggunakan pesawat kepresidenan RJ-85.

Ia mengatakan bahwa pendaratan perdana pesawat yang ditumpanginya berlangsung mulus dan lancar.

"Ya Alhamdulillah ini landing yang pertama yang semuanya berjalan dengan baik, Alhamdulillah semua berjalan dengan lancar dan ini adalah pertama kali saya turun di Bandara Nusantara. Ya mulus banget sih turunnya," kata Jokowi.
