SEAToday, Jakarta - There are some manners and conditions that must be understood by foreigners who visit or go on holiday in Indonesia during the holy month of Ramadan. Here are those lists to know

Firstly, it's important to note that most local restaurants are closed during the day to accommodate those fasting from dawn until dusk. If you're not fasting, it's respectful to avoid eating or drinking openly in front of those who are fasting.

As a tourist, it's also crucial to be mindful of how you dress during Ramadan. It's advisable to avoid wearing tight or revealing clothing, whether you're male or female, out of respect for the Muslim community in your destination.

If you plan to travel during Eid Al-Fitr or the end of Ramadan month, be prepared for a significant number of local people traveling to their hometowns to celebrate the holiday with their families.

During this period, as a tourist, you should anticipate heavy traffic congestion on the roads. It's essential to consider this factor to ensure your holiday travels remain comfortable.

Therefore, before traveling to Indonesia during Ramadan, it's wise to research your destination to determine if it has a predominantly Muslim population.

If you wish to experience the fasting atmosphere, remember to maintain respectful behavior as Ramadan holds significant importance for many Muslims in Indonesia.
