Ministry of Health: Indonesia is Still Safe Amid Rising Covid-19 Cases in Several Countries

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Ministry of Health emphasized that Indonesia remains safe amid the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in several Asian countries such as Singapore, Thailand, and Hong Kong.
"In the midst of global dynamics, we want to convey that conditions in Indonesia remain safe. We continue to strengthen surveillance of infectious diseases, including Covid-19, both through the sentinel system and monitoring at the country's entry points," said the Head of the Ministry of Health's Communication and Public Information Bureau, Aji Muhawarman, as quoted by Antara.
Previously, Singapore experienced a spike in Covid-19 cases but it was still in a seasonal pattern that usually occurs every year. The Covid-19 virus in Singapore is a derivative of JN.1 which does not cause an increase in the severity of cases.
Regarding this, Aji said that the government has not planned to tighten access in and out of the country. However, supervision and monitoring at international entry points will continue to be increased.
Furthermore, the government has not yet implemented a ban on overseas travel. At the same time, the government also asks the public to remain vigilant.
"We encourage the public to follow developments in the situation in the destination country, comply with the health protocols in force there, and postpone travel if they are not feeling well," he said.
