Setidaknya 20 Meninggal, 450 Terluka setelah Pager dan Walkie-Talkie di Lebanon dan Suriah Meledak Bersamaan

SEAToday.com, Beirut - Pager yang digunakan oleh ratusan anggota Hizbullah meledak pada waktu yang hampir bersamaan, Selasa (17/9) di Lebanon dan Suriah. Sehari setelahnya, sejumlah perangkat elektronik meledak di Lebanon, Rabu (1/9). Kementerian Kesehatan Lebanon mengatakan 20 orang tewas, termasuk anak perempuan 8 tahun, dan lebih dari 450 orang terluka dalam ledakan pada Rabu.
Kedua serangan tersebut secara luas diyakini dilakukan Israel. Banyak kekhawatiran insiden ini meningkatkan ketegangan antara Hizbullah dan Israel menjadi perang skala besar. Hal ini juga memperdalam kekhawatiran cakupan potensi perangkat yang dikompromikan karena telah menewaskan dan melukai warga sipil.
Seorang pejabat AS mengatakan Israel telah memberikan mandat kepada AS mengenai operasi tersebut, sementara militer Israel menolak berkomentar. Menteri Pertahanan Israel Yoav Gallant tidak menyinggung ledakan tersebut, namun mengatakan bahwa “kita sedang berada di awal fase baru dalam perang ini”.
