Laporan WHO Sebut TB Jadi Penyakit Menular Paling Mematikan
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) menyebut Tuberkulosis (TB) sebagai penyakit menular paling mematikan di dunia. Hal ini tertera dalam laporan yang dirilis, Selasa (29/10). Sebelumnya, gelar penyakit paling mematikan tersebut dipegang oleh COVID-19.
Di laporan tersebut, tercatat sebanyak 10,8 juta orang terinfeksi TB pada tahun 2023 dan diperkirakan bertanggung jawab atas 1,25 juta kematian.
Jumlah kasus pada 2023 menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dibandingkan tahun 2021 dengan 10,4 juta kasus dan tahun 2020 dengan 10,1 juta kasus. Selain itu, angka kasus di tahun 2023 ini menjadi yang tertinggi sejak WHO mulai memantau TB pada 1995.
WHO juga melaporkan bahwa TB terutama menjangkiti orang-orang di 30 negara. Lebih dari setengah kasus TB di seluruh dunia ditemukan di lima negara, yaitu India (26 persen), Indonesia (10 persen), Tiongkok (6,8 persen), Filipina (6,8 persen), dan Pakistan (6,3 persen).
