SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG) mencatat terjadi dua gempa susulan di wilayah Samudra Hindia, Selatan Gunung Kidul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY), pada Senin (26/8/2024) malam.
Gempa ini dipicu aktivitas deformasi batuan di bidang kontak antar lempang (megathrust).
Kepala Pusat Gempa Bumi dan Tsunami BMKG Daryono mengatakan bahwa gempa bumi susulan tersebut adalah gempa dangkal.
Parameter terkini gempa berkekuatan magnitudo 5,5 dari sebelumnya terdeteksi sebesar magnitudo 5,8 pada pukul 19.57 WIB.
BMKG menganalisis bahwa gempa ini dirasakan di berbagai wilayah, termasuk Sleman, Yogyakarta, Kulonprogo, dan Bantul dengan skala intensitas III-IV MMI.
Selain itu, gempa juga dirasakan di Karangkates, Malang, Pacitan, Nganjuk, Trenggalek, Madiun, Kediri, Blitar, Cilacap, Banyumas, Solo, Surakarta, dan Klaten dengan skala intensitas II-III MMI.
Namun, gempa tersebut dipastikan tidak berpotensi tsunami.
Meski demikian, masyarakat tetap diimbau untuk waspada seraya tetap tenang dan tidak terpengaruh oleh isu yang tidak dapat dipertanggungjawabkan kebenarannya dan selalu mengikuti panduan dari pemerintah daerah.
