Pasca Ada IKN, Jumlah Kendaraan di Balikpapan Melonjak 90 Persen

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Pasca relokasi Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN), jumlah kendaraan di Kota Balikpapan, Kalimantan Timur melonjak 90 persen.
Data Satlantas Polresta Balikpapan menunjukkan bahwa jumlah kendaraan tahun 2023 mencapai 82.256 unit, sedangkan tahun 2022 berada di angka 43.332 unit.
Kasatlantas Polresta Balikpapan Kompol Ropiyani mengatakan, kehadiran megaproyek IKN telah menstimulasi pertumbuhan populasi yang juga berdampak pada pertambahan kendaraan sebagai sarana mobilitas sehari-hari.
Meski jumlah kecelakaan terus menurun dari 76 luka ringan dan 16 luka berat dengan fatalitas meninggal dunia 68 jiwa pada 2022, menjadi 41 luka ringan serta 12 luka berat dengan fatalitas meninggal dunia 52 jiwa, namun harus dilakukan tindakan pre-eventif, preventif, dan kuratif (atau penindakan).
"Ini yang harus diantisipasi, agar lalu lintas di Balikpapan bisa dimonitor supaya para pengendara tertib, berdisiplin, dan kecelakaan dapat diminimalisasi," ujar Ropiyani.
Ia juga mengatakan, kapasitas dan panjang jalan di Kota Balikpapan dengan status Nasional dan kota mencapai 570,57 kilometer.
Oleh karena itu, dirinya berharap ada jalinan kerja sama sinergis dan harmonis antar stakeholder terkait seperti dengan Pemerintah Kota Balikpapan dalam hal ini Dinas Perhubungan, dan Dinas Pekerjaan Umum.
Kerja sama dimaksud tidak hanya dalam hal tataran kebijakan, penegakkan aturan, melainkan juga penambahan sarana, dan prasarana (infrastruktur) seperti kamera CCTV, juga peningkatan kapasitas jalan.
Sementara itu, mulai Senin (15/7/2024), Polresta Balikpapan menjalankan Operasi Patuh Mahakam 2024 yang melibatkan 74 personel selama 14 hari hingga Minggu (28/7/2024).
