UNICEF: 600.000 Anak Gaza yang Berlindung di Rafah Terancam  Serangan Israel

SEAToday.com, Rafah - United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) memperingatkan bahwa ada sekitar 600.000 anak yang berlindung di Rafah, Gaza bagian selatan dari serangan Israel selama invasi yang telah berlangsung tujuh bulan ini.

Rafah yang selama ini menjadi tempat berlindung anak-anak Gaza yang mencari tempat aman menjadi terancam karena serangan Israel. Dilaporkan bahwa pasukan Israel mulai menyerang Rafah pada Senin (6/5/2024).

“Rafah sekarang menjadi kota anak-anak yang tidak punya tempat aman di Gaza. Jika operasi militer skala besar dimulai, anak-anak tidak hanya akan menghadapi risiko akibat kekerasan, namun juga kekacauan dan kepanikan dimana kondisi fisik dan mental mereka juga sudah melemah,” kata Catherine Russell, Direktur Eksekutif UNICEF.

Dengan itu, UNICEF sekali lagi menyerukan gencatan senjata demi melindungi kelangsungan hidup anak-anak Gaza, Palestina. Rafah merupakan rumah bagi lebih dari 1,5 juta pengungsi Palestina sejak serangan yang dilancarkan Israel pada Oktober 2023.

UNICEF juga menyebutkan bahwa Rafah menampung sekitar 78.000 bayi dibawah usia dua tahun dan 175.000 anak dibawah usia lima tahun yang banyak diantara mereka terkena satu atau lebih penyakit menular dengan penanganan yang minim.

Dan pada Senin (6/5/2024), Israel memerintahkan 100.000 warga Palestina di Rafah Timur untuk meninggalkan daerah tersebut sebelum menyerangnya dengan invasi darat.
