Selancar Jadi Program Ekstrakurikuler Sekolah di Sumbawa Barat

SEAToday.com, Sumbawa Barat - Kabupaten Sumbawa Barat (KSB) menjadikan selancar sebagai ekstrakurikuler di sekolah. Program ini diluncurkan melalui kerja sama antara pemerintah daerah, PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara, dan dinas terkait. Hingga saat ini, ada empat sekolah yang sudah mengadopsi ekstrakurikuler surfing adalah SDN Jelenga, SMPN 1 Sekongkang, SMPN 1 Maluk, dan SMPN 2 Jereweh.
Dengan adanya ekstrakulikuler tersebut, ada beberapa hal yang ingin dicapai, yaitu untuk mempersiapkan atlet surfing tingkat nasional dan internasional serta mengembangkan pariwisata berbasis masyarakat.
Program ini juga didukung oleh peluncuran buku panduan "Surfing Masuk Sekolah" pada 23 November lalu. Buku ini mengajarkan teknik selancar dan pelestarian ekosistem laut secara aman dan bertanggung jawab.
Program ini tidak hanya melibatkan dunia pendidikan, tetapi juga komunitas peselancar lokal dan pelaku industri pariwisata. Keunggulan pantai Sumbawa Barat yang memiliki ombak berkualitas sepanjang tahun membuatnya ideal untuk menjadi destinasi surfing utama dan pusat pelatihan.
