Tiongkok Pinjamkan Sepasang Panda Baru ke Australia untuk Melanjutkan Diplomasi Panda

SEAToday.com, Sydney - Tiongkok akan meminjamkan sepasang panda raksasa kepada Australia untuk menggantikan sepasang panda yang gagal menghasilkan keturunan selama lebih dari satu dekade, demikian diumumkan oleh Perdana Menteri Li Qiang pada hari Minggu (16/6).

Kebun Binatang Adelaide telah menjadi rumah bagi Wang Wang dan Fu Ni sejak tahun 2009 ketika mereka dipinjamkan oleh China sebagai bagian dari skema pelestarian global yang juga berfungsi sebagai alat "diplomasi panda".

Mengembangbiakkan anak panda adalah tugas yang sangat sulit bagi makhluk dengan birahi rendah ini, dan harapan untuk hamil di Adelaide, termasuk melalui penggunaan inseminasi buatan, telah berulang kali kandas.

"Wang Wang dan Fu Ni telah berada jauh dari rumah selama 15 tahun - saya kira mereka pasti sangat merindukan rumah mereka - jadi mereka akan kembali ke Tiongkok sebelum akhir tahun," kata perdana menteri.

"Tapi yang bisa saya katakan adalah bahwa kami akan memberikan sepasang panda baru yang sama cantik, manis dan menggemaskannya sesegera mungkin."
