SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Sejumlah badan bantuan Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa (PBB) mulai memangkas program kemanusiaan mereka menyusul peninjauan ulang dan penangguhan bantuan luar negeri oleh Amerika Serikat, menurut laporan The Guardian, Rabu (29/1).

Komisaris Tinggi PBB untuk Pengungsi, Filippo Grandi, menginstruksikan seluruh pegawai Badan Pengungsi PBB (UNHCR) untuk segera mengendalikan pengeluaran, termasuk menghentikan pemesanan pasokan baru kecuali dalam situasi darurat.

Selain itu, UNHCR juga diminta untuk membekukan perekrutan, menunda penandatanganan kontrak, serta menghentikan perjalanan udara internasional.

Dilaporkan bahwa AS sebelumnya menjadi salah satu penyumbang terbesar bagi UNHCR dengan kontribusi sebesar 2,49 miliar dolar AS (sekitar Rp40,49 triliun), atau sekitar 20 persen dari total anggaran badan tersebut.

Penangguhan bantuan luar negeri AS selama 90 hari ini berdampak pada berbagai lembaga kemanusiaan global, yang kini terpaksa memperlambat operasi mereka dan mengurangi jumlah pegawai akibat keterbatasan pendanaan dari Washington.

Sebelumnya, Presiden AS Donald Trump menandatangani perintah eksekutif yang menghentikan sementara semua bantuan pembangunan luar negeri selama 90 hari. Langkah ini diambil guna meninjau kembali kebijakan bantuan agar selaras dengan visi politik luar negeri pemerintahannya.
