Johor Bahru-Singapore RTS  Finally Linked With 65% Construction Completed

SEAToday.com, Johor Bahru-On Thursday (1/11) Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met with his Singaporean counterpart, Lee Hsien Loong to witness the symbolic opening of the Johor Bahru-Singapore rail link. During their meeting, the two leaders signed a joint plaque to symbolize the two countries' shared commitment to connecting the two countries.

At an estimated cost of 2.15 billion US dollars, construction began in January 2021. As of December 31 last year, the construction of the 4-kilometer-long Johor Bahru-Singapore rapid transit system has reached 65 percent completion.

The project is expected to begin commercial operation in December 2026, carrying more than ten thousand passengers per hour.

During their meeting, the two leaders also witnessed the signing of the memorandum of understanding on the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone. (FELIX/ALVIN)
