From Friends to Lover: Prince Mateen and Anisha's Royal Couple Love Story
SEAToday.com, Bandar Seri Begawan-Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei, the fourth son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah with Puan Mariam tied the knot with Anisha Isa Kalebic on Thursday (1/11). The royal wedding included a series of ceremonies from 7 to 16 January at Bandar Seri Begawan
Tracing back to their love journey, the prince and his fiancée, the grand-daughter of the sultan’s special advisor, have always kept their romance private and under the radar. Due to such privacy, people have been curious enough to know their love story and even linked it to a Wattpad novel.
The royal couple have known each other since childhood since Anisha’s brother is Prince Mateen’s best friend.
As they grew older, their friendship eventually evolved into a loving relationship, showing a strong bond that transcended time. Although they never publicly acknowledged themselves as a couple, Prince Mateen and Anisha are often seen together attending the same event.
Initially, in 2018, both Prince Mateen and Anisha uploaded a photo on their social media account that appeared to be in the same location and time in the desert area of the United Arab Emirates. Moreover, they also usually spend their time together by hanging out with some friends and family.
Anisha was also seen joining Prince Mateen at his sister’s wedding with Prince Bahar Ibni Jefri Bolkiah, who turned out as her first cousin.
Following their long-time partnership, news of the Prince’s engagement to Anisha first came to light through Sultan Hassanal's official statement in October 2023. (ELISEA/ALVIN)
