Gorila Jantan Tertua di Dunia Disuntik Mati Karena Sakit Berkepanjangan
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Winston, seekor gorila yang tinggal di Taman Safari Kebun Binatang San Diego, AS, dilaporkan mati di usia 52 tahun. Winston terpaksa disuntik mati oleh pihak kebun binatang karena kondisi kesehatannya yang terus menurun sejak tujuh tahun lalu. Winston sendiri telah bertahan hidup jauh melampaui usia rata-rata gorila jantan pada umumnya, yakni 33 tahun.
Winston yang diyakini sebagai salah satu gorila jantan tertua di dunia tersebut telah menerima perawatan medis untuk sejumlah kondisi terkait usia, termasuk penyakit jantung, sendi degeneratif, dan ginjal. Hal tersebut diungkapkan pihak kebun Binatang di media sosial Instagram (@sdzsafaripark), Minggu (14/7).
Pihak kebun Binatang mengaku telah mempertimbangkan dengan matang untuk melakukan suntik mati tersebut mengingatkan komplikasi dan kondisi kesehatan yang semakin memburuk.
