SEAToday.com, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo has officially changed the name of the 'Isa Almasih' holiday to 'Jesus Christ'. The name change is included in Presidential Decree No. 8 of 2024, Monday (1/29), on Holidays.

Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Saiful Rahmat Dasuki said the change of nomenclature from Isa Almasih to Jesus Christ in the naming of national holidays was based on suggestions from Christians and Catholics.

This comes after the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Affairs, Muhadjir Effendy, revealed the plan to change the names on Saturday (10/14).

Following the issuance of the presidential decree, the use of the word Jesus Almasih on several holidays will be the Birth of Jesus Christ, Death of Jesus Christ, Resurrection of Jesus Christ (Easter) and Ascension of Jesus Christ.
