Korban Tewas di Gaza Lampaui Angka 20.000

SEAToday.com, Gaza - Sedikitnya 20.000 warga Palestina telah terbunuh di Gaza sejak 7 Oktober. Angka ini dirilis dalam sebuah pernytataan dari pemerintah Palestina pada Rabu (20/12).
Menurut pemerintah Palestina, korban meninggal terdiri dari 8.000 anak-anak dan 6.200 perempuan, sementara 52.000 orang terluka dan 6.700 orang masih hilang. Ada 310 petugas medis, 35 personel pertahanan sipil dan 97 jurnalis termasuk di antara mereka yang tewas. Serangan tersebut juga menyebabkan hampir 2 juta orang terpaksa mengungsi.
Sementara itu, dua orang Palestina tewas dalam bentrokan dengan militer Israel di kota-kota Tepi Barat. Kematian tersebut menambah jumlah korban tewas menjadi 303 orang di wilayah pendudukan Israel sejak 7 Oktober, menurut WAFA, media resmi Palestina.
Jumlah korban sebanyak 20.000 ini bersamaan dengan penundaan pemungutan suara untuk menuntut akses bantuan ke Gaza yang dilakukan PBB. Penundaan tersebut dilakukan demi menghindari veto dari Amerika Serikat yang biasanya melindungi sekutunya, Israel.
