SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) mencabut dan menarik tiga jenis uang rupiah dari peredaran per tanggal 1 Desember 2023. Jenis uang yang ditarik ketiganya berupa uang rupiah logam atau koin pecahan Rp 500 Tahun Emisi (TE) 1991, Rp 1.000 TE 1993, dan Rp 500 TE 1997.
Direktur Eksekutif/Kepala Departemen Komunikasi BI, Erwin Haryono menjelaskan bahwa penarikan ini dilakukan atas pertimbangan lamanya masa edar dan perkembangan teknologi dari material uang logam tersebut.
Untuk masyarakat yang masih memiliki jenis uang tersebut, dapat melakukan penukaran dengan uang nominal sama, hingga 10 tahun sejak tanggal pencabutan atau hingga 1 Desember 2033. Penukaran tersebut dapat dilakukan di bank-bank umum, Kantor Pusat atau Kantor Perwakilan Bank Indonesia. Untuk penukaran di Bank Indonesia, masyarakat diminta melakukan pemesanan penukaran terlebih dahulu, melalui aplikasi PINTAR.
