SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Israeli officials on Monday (6/17) said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had dissolved the influential war cabinet that was tasked to oversee the conflict in Gaza. The decision came a week after the leave of its key member, former military chief Benny Gantz.
The PM reportedly stated the cabinet was established as an agreement with his political rival Benny Gantz who was widely seen as a more moderate voice. “The moment Gantz left, there is no such forum anymore,” Netanyahu said.
The six-member war cabinet will now be replaced by a smaller forum which Netanyahu will consult with for sensitive issues. The move could solidify Netanyahu’s influence in decision making regarding the Gaza conflict.
