SEAToday.com, Jakarta-Kementerian Luar Negeri RI memastikan bahwa tidak ada warga negara Indonesia (WNI) yang menjadi korban dalam insiden penusukan di pusat perbelanjaan Westfield Bondi Junction di Sydney, Australia. Insiden penusukan ini terjadi pada Sabtu, 13 April 2024 sore waktu setempat.
Direktur Perlindungan WNI dan BHI Kemlu Judha Nugraha menyebut bahwa usai kejadian itu, Konsulat Jenderal RI di Sydney segera berkoordinasi dengan Kemlu Australia dan kepolisian setempat untuk memastikan adanya korban WNI.
"Kami juga menghubungi simpul-simpul masyarakat Indonesia, dan dipastikan hingga saat ini, tidak ada informasi korban WNI dalam serangan itu," terang Judha melalui pesan singkat, dilansir Antara.
Ia mengatakan bahwa jumlah WNI di Sydney sekitar 10.000 orang. Mereka didominasi pelajar atau mahasiswa dan pekerja migran.
KJRI menyediakan nomor telepon bantuan +61 4034 544 478 bagi WNI yang menghadapi situasi darurat terkait insiden tersebut.
Seorang pria menusuk sembilan orang di mal dekat Pantai Bondi tersebut pada Sabtu sore pukul 16.00 (11.00 WIB). Enam korban dilaporkan tewas, sementara lainnya dalam kondisi kritis di rumah sakit. Polisi menembak mati pelaku.
