SEAToday.com, Bali - Menteri Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan (LHK) Siti Nurbaya mendeklarasikan Mutis Timau di Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) menjadi Taman Nasional, Minggu (8/9). Dengan deklarasi ini, Taman Nasional Mutis Timau menjadi yang ke-56 di Indonesia.

"Taman Nasional Mutis Timau bukan hanya menjadi paru-paru bagi Nusa Tenggara Timur, tetapi juga menjadi simbol sekaligus implementasi penting upaya kita dalam melindungi, mengawetkan, dan memanfaatkan keanekaragaman hayati secara berkelanjutan, berkeadilan, dan bertanggung jawab demi generasi mendatang," sebut Menteri Siti. 

Deklarasi ini menandai komitmen pemerintah dalam melindungi keanekaragaman hayati pada kawasan kaya flora dan fauna endemik, serta habitat penting bagi berbagai spesies yang dilindungi. Taman ini juga berperan penting bagi masyarakat sebagai sumber berbagai kebutuhan.
